Medical Electives Abroad was founded by Dr Steph Clarke to offer medical students the chance to take their elective on the stunning island chain of St Vincent and the Grenadines. Dr Clarke chose St Vincent while she was studying medicine at Cardiff University and fell in love with the country. The unspoilt beauty, the people, the way of life, and of course the beaches.
But organising an elective abroad is a difficult, and often stressful, process. The hospitals are often slow to reply to emails, making the process of having forms signed off a long winded process. You will need to source accommodation, often unaware of its location from the hospital, local amenities or even safety. Getting around in a new country can be hard, even just from the airport to where you are staying. How do you get to the hospital on the first day? It was aspects like these that Dr Clarke wished to solve when she established Medical Electives Abroad.
We have a UK based team who will aid you in all aspects of booking your elective, taking care of hospital and university forms, booking your accommodation in one of our pre approved houses, and aiming to make the process as smooth as possible.
When you arrive you are greeted by our local team who will be on hand throughout your elective. They will take you to your accommodation, show you the local area, help with any questions you might have. They will take you to placement on the first day and be there as 24/7 support.
